TYC - Tropical Youth Center, OSA

TYC - Tropical Youth Center - is a rain forest school situated in the tropical rain forest, and having the purpose to teach the Costa Rican children about how to preserve and utilize the rain forest in a sustainable way. Danida (DANIsh Development Agency) and Nepenthes Rain forest Group have, together with other agencies, made it possible to create a unique school in and about the rain forest. There are build comfortable huts in the shadows of the rain forest, where you can rest after a hard days studies.

The open air classroom

The open air classroom in the rain forest was fantastic. It's the dream of every professor to be able to teach in the very heart of the subject. You couldn't talk about pollination of flowers without having butterflies and hummingbirds flying around your heads in their source for nectar.

Resting in front of the canteen

The canteen is a covered open air canteen. The most delicious food is served here trice a day. In front of the canteen is the refuge for smokers.

Animal visitors

As in the open air classroom the canteen is well visited by the rain forest animals. Her is a visiting beatle (see picture). But also whiteheaded monkey, morpho-butterflies and tree frogs are passing by...
